Meeting together at Bloody Bluff landing to document the pulling of Tupelo honey with the Watkins crew was an opportunity for Sammy, Richard, Elam and Clyde to work together. While Richard photographed George Watkins working the bees, Elam filmed segments of the honey pulling activities, Sammy recorded the nat sounds of the buzzing of the bees, Clyde waited patiently on the boat. Later, Clyde crossed the river and was able to photograph the banks lined with cypress and tupelo trees. All photos by Niki Butcher.
The Watkin's still use this barge to transport the honey to the docks. The river is very important for growth to the tupelo trees.
Richard capturing images with George Watkins and all the activities that go along with pulling the honey off the hives along the river.

Clyde finally gets his turn across the river to photograph the cypress and tupelo trees. Niki assisting Clyde.
On the way back to the landing, scouting for more opportunities. Sammy using the video camera on a small tributary along the river.
Below: at the end of the day we were sweaty, dirty and wet, however, we had smiles from the experience of working together and documenting the people and places along this great "American Treasure".
